Dana Bala presents “American Quilting & Sewing Arts”
Dressed in 18th century clothing while giving the folk arts presentation, Dana’s presentation is hands on, as fabric and textiles need to be “touched” to be appreciated. She brings quilts, fabrics, and clothing, many examples of newspaper and magazine articles, and quilting patterns, as well as subject appropriate books that visitors may view and enjoy. Dana’s presentation touches on embroidery, and two early Staats’ family samplers will be exhibited as part of her discussion on sewing and piecework.
The Friends of Abraham Staats House, Inc. creatively celebrates and educates the public about the house, Somerset County, New Jersey and our nation’s history.
Weekend Journey Activities at the Abraham Staats House:
- Guided house tours by interpreters in period clothing
- Live period music performed by Tom Harabin
- Exhibits on the Middlebrook Cantonment, 18th century life throughout the house
